Structural Fabrication of Stainless Steel Cable Rails
At American Steel & Aluminum Co., Inc., we have a long tradition of providing custom steel products of the highest quality and integrity, including the project illustrated here. When a customer in the commercial construction industry needed custom-fabricated rails for a college sports stadium, we were pleased to take on the contract. We began by rendering our customer's specifications into a CAD drawing. Then, using steel bars and stainless steel cables, we manufactured these cable rails using a range of our manufacturing capabilities. Our facility contains a wide array of advanced equipment, allowing us to provide full structural fabrication, welding, pipe/tube processing, and plasma cutting. We work with materials of the highest quality at American Steel and Aluminum, in this case producing these cable rails with ½" and 1" plate ASTM A123 steel. All of the steel bars and stainless steel cables were finished with hot dip galvanization. In total, we manufactured over 2 miles of cable for this project. When the manufacturing phase of these steel cable rails was completed, the rails and cables were fully installed. Our customer was pleased with the results. Not only are the stainless steel cable rails aesthetically pleasing, functional, and safe, but they also fully meet all applicable AISC standards. The full railing system can be seen in TCU Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas.
